Falor Property in Bankruptcy Wrangle
Hotel Blake, a boutique hotel disgraced condo-hotel king Robert Falor sought to make a trophy property, is in bankruptcy to avoid foreclosure.
Printers Row LLC, which owns the downtown Chicago property, seeks Chapter 11 protection to keep lender Accelerated Assets LLC from selling the Blake.
According to papers filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Chicago last Thursday, debt-ridden Printers Row wants a speedy sale. It blamed MHVJ LLC, a company controlled by former Blake owner Falor, for its liquidity problems, claiming MHVJ has denied it access to the hotel, its books or records. It wants bankruptcy court to strip the hotel management from a Falor-controlled company and turn it over to Hostmark Investors LP, a hotel management firm.
Accelerated Assets is owed more than $7.2 million.
Printers Row lists assets and liabilities of, respectively, $50 million to $100
million, according to court papers.
