Wyndham Founder Trammell Crow Dies
Trammell Crow, the legendary real estate developer and founder of Wyndham Hotels, died Wednesday evening at age 94 at this family farm in eastern Texas. The Dallas-born-and-bred Crow was responsible for developing much of the city’s skyline, including the iconic and under-appreciated Wyndham Anatole Hotel (now a Hilton).
He launched the Wyndham Hotel chain in 1981 and later merged it with Patriot American Hospitality, a real estate investment trust. Crow made his mark outside of Dallas, too, developing such landmark projects as Peachtree Center in Atlanta and the Embarcadero Center in San Francisco.
Crow was a collector of Asian art, and much of his personal collection still adorns the walls of the Anatole Hotel as well as the Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art in Dallas.
