Starwood’s largest brands Westin and Sheraton earlier this year debuted their exclusive retail home furniture collections featuring signature items from both brands’ new guestroom designs, including Westin’s multi-use table and throw pillow and Sheraton’s lounge chair, luggage bench and desk lamp. Starwood’s in-house design team created the signature pieces.
ANTI-TERRORISM TRAINING
American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute introduces Eye on Awareness—Hotel Security and Anti-Terrorism Training, a timely new program that gives lodging employees the skills and knowledge to recognize (See Something), report (Say Something) and react (Do Something) to suspicious situations at their properties. After an initial launch in the U.S., the online course will be available to hotels around the world.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
Front of the House (FOH) recently launched a green alternative to dinner and drinkware with Platewise and Drinkwise. Platewise is made of bamboo and free of melamine, capable of standing up to commercial washings while also easily decomposing in landfills. Drinkwise is reusable BPA-free drinkware capable of withstanding commercial washings.
