Son of Fontainebleau Creator Found Dead
Ben Novack, Jr., son of the storied developer and long-time owner of the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, was found dead over the weekend in a suburban New York hotel room. According to press reports, Novack’s wife found the body in their Rye Town Hilton guestroom when she returned from breakfast on Monday morning.
Police suspect foul play but so far have released no details regarding motive or suspects in the death.
Novack, Jr., 53, was president & CEO of Convention Concepts Unlimited, a meeting planning organization. He was at the hotel since last Thursday to oversee a convention he organized.
The colorful Ben Novack Sr. was the impresario who presided over the development and operation of the fame Fontainebleau. He opened the hotel in 1954 and controlled the property until he filed for bankruptcy protection in 1977. He died in 1985 at age 78.
