Taking a Peek at the New High Peaks Resort
The design of the new High Peaks Resort on Mirror Lake reflects the natural beauty of its location in the Adirondack Mountain village of Lake Placid, NY.
The upscale boutique resort, formerly the Lake Placid Hilton, debuted July 21 after a complete redesign and upgrade of the property's public spaces and 133 guestrooms. Richmond, VA-based Thomas Hamilton & Associates headed the redesign for owner and operator Lane Hospitality. The resort takes advantage of the sweeping views from its Main Street location in Lake Placid's shopping and entertainment district. The spectacular floating lobby features a two-sided fireplace, maple-stained woods and a scenic mural of the region. The guestrooms offer baths with natural stone tiled walk-in showers, granite vanities, premium bedding, oversized desks, flat-screen TVs, wireless and wired high-speed Internet access and multi-function music systems.
“It was a challenging, but rewarding experience to craft this conversion while the hotel remained fully operational,” Tom Hamilton says. “We are extremely pleased with the results.”
The resort features an expanded fitness center; three indoor and outdoor pools; a spa; direct lake access with canoeing, paddleboats and swimming; the famed Dancing Bears restaurant and Reflections Restaurant overlooking Lake Placid.
