HITEC Hot Products
Traditionally, HITEC is a venue in which technology vendors announce their latest customer and industry partnerships. This year's show was no different. Here are a few of the deals announced in Anaheim:
Software provider Micros Systems unveiled several recent deals, including the selection of systems by the Hotel Chateau Chamonix near Denver. The property installed the Operetta PMS as well as the myfidelio.net and mylink applications for online booking. In another announcement, the West Inn & Suites, an 86-room boutique property in Carlsbad, CA, chose Micros' Opera Xpress PMS.
The Hacienda Tres Rios Resort in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico will be the first property to deploy Onity's new Advance RFID contact-less electronic locking system.
The InterContinental Buckhead in Atlanta is the first IHG property using the Microsoft Surface computer system. The Surface gives guests an array of interactive information at their fingertips. IHG plans to install the Surface at all 158 InterContinental properties.
Link@Sheraton, the chain's lobby business centers, will soon be equipped with Microsoft's new Windows 7 software. The installation will occur before the system's official release in October.
The Cheeca Lodge & Spa in the Florida Keys selected a full array of software systems from Agilysys, including PMS, point of sale, marketing management and document management.
The Peabody Orlando installed a suite of web-based software applications from Libra OnDemand. The systems help the Peabody manage customer relationships, drive loyalty inititatives, focus sales efforts, manage catering events and perform on-demand business analytics.
Just before HITEC, TimeLox completed the installation of its wireless radio-frequency online locking system at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, DC.
Among a flurry of HITEC announcements from SoftBrands were several deals with hotel companies. The Palomar Hotel in Philadelphia will become the 49th Kimpton Hotel to implement SoftBrands' Epitome PMS and business intelligence system. SoftBrands also announced the formation of a customer advisory panel that includes representatives from Red Roof, Peabody, Kimpton, Omni, Drury and Orient Express.
Interactive TV system provider Roomlinx struck a deal with IBM to be part of IBM's Hotel-in-a-Box solution. It also announced approved supplier status with IHG.
Another in-room entertainment deal saw Guest-Tek Interactive Entertainment sign a multi-year agreement with MGM Hollywood to gain access to the studio's movies for its video-on-demand service.
