Done Deals
A lot of vendor-hotel alliances are struck or announced each year at HITEC. Here's a rundown of some of the deals made public during the most recent tech get-together:
The divisions of Assa Abloy Hospitality announced a number of alliances with Starwood Hotels and its brands. VingCard and TimeLox were named preferred electronic lock vendors for the aloft and Element brands, while Elsafe is now the approved in-room safe company for the two brands.
LXR Luxury Resorts & Hotels tapped VingCard and Elsafe as its preferred electronic door lock and in-room safe suppliers.
Red Lion Hotels chose Telkonet to supply comprehensive high-speed Internet access for the chain's 30 properties and 5,400 rooms. The roll-out has begun, with completion scheduled for September.
Omni Hotels selected Micros Systems to enhance its brand-wide reservations system. Omni will use three modules from Micros' Opera Enterprise Solution. The modules encompass reservations, customer information and the web.
The Hutton Hotel, a 250-room property which opens in Nashville this fall, will be a test site for Agilysys' Guest 360, the company's next-generation property management system.
Wayport signed a deal with Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces to provide high-speed Internet access to the chain's three U.S. properties — the Pierre in New York City, Campton Place in San Francisco and the Taj Boston. Wayport will provide WiFi service in guestrooms, meeting rooms and public spaces. In addition, each hotel's business center will have a CyberCenter Express unit, Wayport's public PC station.
Cox Business/Hospitality Network signed deals with two new Las Vegas properties. The firm will provide high-definition video on demand at the Encore at Wynn Las Vegas. It will also provide wired and wireless Internet connectivity to Encore guestrooms and the convention and meeting rooms at the Encore and its sister property, Wynn Las Vegas. Across town, CB/HN now supplies video on demand, free-to-guest cable television and wired and wireless Internet connectivity to guestrooms and public areas of Palms Place, a new condo-hotel that's part of the expansion of the Palms Casino Resort.
Roomlinx signed a five-year contract with The Kessler Collection to provide in-room media, entertainment and business systems and high-speed Internet access to all new Kessler properties. The first two hotels under the agreement are the Bohemian Hotels in Asheville, NC and Savannah, GA.
Great Wolf Resorts said it will implement the EzRMS Internet Product Suite at all of its resorts. The EzRMS system will connect to the properties' Opera V 4.0 PMSs.
The Wit, a new luxury hotel under development in Chicago, will include the Lorica Room Center, a comprehensive system that addresses hardware, software, wiring and management and support of converged IP-based hotel networks. The Center acts as a communications and monitoring hub for all in-room devices.
