PEGASUS STRENGTHENS ITS HAND
By acquiring Wizcom and GuestClick, Pegasus Solutions has consolidated its position as a leading travel distribution solutions provider. Privately held Pegasus bought both for undisclosed amounts.
Mike Kistner, Pegasus COO and executive vice president of distribution services, says acquisition of Wizcom from Travelport will generate economies of scale and give Pegasus more clout as a provider of global distribution system (GDS) switch services. Current Wizcom customers “will be migrated over” to the Pegasus switch and existing Wizcom products will be integrated “where they make sense.”
The GuestClick purchase may be even more critical, he suggests. It paves the way for Pegasus offering next-generational central reservation systems that will give legacy customers a “basis of stability and dependability to launch next-generation tools, features and functionality.”
Kistner says Aaron Shepherd, former chief executive officer of GuestClick and now Pegasus' senior vice president of reservation technology, has been working on a CRS breakthrough for years. Now that all the pieces are coming together, Pegasus expects to deploy this new type of CRS to its customers this year and to the industry worldwide in 2008.
