Two hotel companies—IHG and Best Western—launched mobile apps for the iPad. ‘Best Western to Go’ enables users to find and make reservations at the brand’s 4,000 properties. In addition to booking capabilities, the IHG app has a concierge feature that includes information and videos on more than 120 destinations….The Riveredge Resort in Alexandria Bay, NY installed IQware’s Global Property Management System. The comprehensive system helps the Thousand Islands resort integrate and streamline many of its operational functions, including reservations, reporting, accounting and guest charging….iBAHN signed a global reseller agreement with Symon Communications, a visual communications and digital signage provider. The two firms will sell each other’s technologies and work to develop joint products and services for the hospitality market. iBAHN also recently installed a wireless Internet network in the Bourbon Orleans Hotel in New Orleans to provide free Internet access in guestrooms, public areas and meeting rooms.….Egyptian hotel operator Travco Group named MICROS Systems as its exclusive provider of information technology solutions. Travco, which operates hotels under the Jaz, Sol Y Mar, Iberotel and Steigenberger Hotels flags, will install a variety of MICROS products, including PMS, reservations, customer information, business intelligence, sales and catering and more, in its properties…..Energy management vendor Telkonet installed its SmartEnergy system in a 300-room Springhill Suites in Las Vegas. Hotel GM Scott Hooker hopes for 25-percent reduction in energy and water consumption by 2017….In-room technology provider SuiteLinq opened two new offices, a headquarters and tech center in Exton, PA and a sales office in Las Vegas….SPI Software installed its Orange 7 timeshare resort property management system at RMC Resort Management in Hilton Head, SC….Roomlinx installed its HD interactive TV and free-to-guest TV programming systems in the new 610-room JW Marriott in downtown Chicago….The Wingate by Wyndham that opens this month in Frisco, TX will employ a communications package from XETA Technologies that includes wired and wireless high-speed Internet access, a PBX system and an array of low-voltage cabling.
