TeleMatrix Absorbs Teledex
A flurry of legal and financial dealings late last year ended with telephone marketer Scitec/TeleMatrix acquiring the assets of competitor Teledex following a foreclosure sale. TMX Funding, an affiliate of TeleMatrix and sister company Scitec, purchased all of Teledex's inventory, equipment, trade names, Internet addresses, schematics, technical info and accounting data.
Immediately following the purchase, the firm said it would continue to market Teledex's telephone product lines and honor its customer warranties. It also vowed to clear Teledex's “significant order backlog” and began fulfilling existing orders earlier this month. The operations for all three companies, including customer and technical support in North America, were centralized in TeleMatrix's headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO with support from regional offices and warehouses in China, Dubai, India and the U.K.
Since 2006, the former Scitec has been able to consolidate the hotel guestroom telephone business. At one time, it was the smallest of the three companies in the hospitality market, but it purchased TeleMatix four years ago and Teledex in 2009.
In other hospitality telecommunications news, telephone systems marketer PhoneSuite last month launched a rebate program to encourage hotel operators to replace their energy-inefficient phone systems with a PBX from the company.
Dubbed “Cash For PBX Clunkers,” PhoneSuite and its authorized resellers set up a $1-million fund that rebates new purchasers with $25 for every room in their property. The program runs through the end of March or until the fund is depleted.
