Beachfront Wi-Fi Hits Marco Island
According to a recent study, the number of people working remotely has grown 63 percent in the past two years. That's one reason the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort has gone completely wireless, offering its guests unlimited daily access to the Internet no matter where they are working or playing at the resort — even along its three-mile stretch of beach and pools.
The idea behind the $12.95 daily service is to address the growing blend between work and play, says Bob Pfeffer, director of sales and marketing at the Florida resort. “Americans are notorious for not taking all of their vacation days, afraid of what they might miss while out of the office,” Pfeffer says. “Being able to remain connected, even at the beach, is important to our guests.”
With wireless access available resort-wide — even at The Spa at Marco Island — guests can work and play wherever they find themselves. Free phone calls from the guestroom are included in the daily Wi-Fi pricing.
