IHG Doubles Q1 Profits

Growth in Asia Drives RevPAR Improvements
InterContinental Hotels said Tuesday that its first-quarter net profit doubled from a year earlier as the key measure of revenue per available room improved for the first time in 18 months. The company, which owns brands including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn, said profit in the latest quarter improved to $54 million from $27 million a year earlier as total revenue grew 3.1% to $362 million.
