Union Says New Hotel Will Use Contract Housekeepers
Alderman Bob Fioretti has twice delayed the zoning application for a $90-million downtown project opposed by the hotel employee union, two years after a judge found he wrongfully withheld permits from the Congress Plaza hotel to aid striking workers. Toyoko Inn Co. Ltd.'s proposal for a 615-room hotel near Union Station was scheduled to be reviewed Oct. 20 by the Plan Commission but was delayed at the last minute at the request of Mr. Fioretti, even though the plan is supported by the Emanuel administration and is not opposed by community groups.
