Chicago Tourism Bureau Wants Slice of Hotel Tax Hike
As Chicago prepares to raise its tax on hotels, Chicago's tourism officials are hoping to get their hands on some of that additional revenue to fund marketing efforts. On October 12, Mayor Rahm Emanuel unveiled his proposed 2012 budget, which includes increasing city taxes on hotels to 4.5%. That puts the overall tax on hotel rooms at 16.4%, among the highest three cities in the nation. Click here for the full story.
