Daytona Merits 2nd Convention Hotel; Finance Remains Hurdle
The market demand is strong enough to warrant a second convention center hotel near the Ocean Center,in Daytona Beach, but building it would require major financial commitments from a private developer and the city and county, a new study has concluded.
The study, conducted by Orlando-based economic consulting firm Fishkind & Associates, was commissioned at a cost of $50,000 by the CEO Business Alliance and other local business leaders at the behest of Volusia County Chair Frank Bruno and Daytona Beach Mayor Glenn Ritchey.
Ritchey and Bruno requested the study after receiving more than a dozen inquiries in the past year from real estate developers interested in the possibility of developing a second convention hotel near the Ocean Center. Click here for the full story.
