Zoning Plan for Six-Story Hotel in Fayetteville, NC, Advances
Developer Jay Shah, whose family-run hotel business owns and operates the Wingate By Wyndham Inn on Sycamore Dairy Road, is interested in building a six-story hotel on Legend Avenue. The Fayetteville Zoning Commission has unanimously approved a recommendation to rezone the 3.1-acre tract, and the City Council is expected to make a final vote on the request Dec. 12.
Legend Hospitality LLC, of Chester, Va., is the applicant. Shamin Hotels Inc., also of Chester, would manage the hotel property. Shah is vice president of development for Shamin.
The current commercial zoning limits hotels to four stories.
"Initially, my hope was to do a full-service hotel," said Shah. "I don't know if the economics will work for that now. If I had my druthers, I would love to do a full-service hotel. I think Fayetteville would need one."
As for the brand, he said, "I definitely would like to work with one of the brands we're familiar with. We haven't determined or made any decisions on that yet." Click here for the full story.
