Justice’s Grain Silo Also Damaged, Flooded
When Jim Justice, owner of The Greenbrier resort, learned that Hurricane Irene was expected to plow into eastern North Carolina in late August, he knew he had to act fast. Justice, who also runs Justice Family Farms, marshaled a crew of workers. They loaded "low-boy" trailers with corn harvesters and raced to Elizabeth City, N.C. "We worked 'round the clock, all day, all night," he said. Justice was able to harvest about a fifth of his corn crop -- but the hurricane flattened 4,000 acres, causing an estimated $2.6 million in crop loss. Click here for the full story.
