Five Parties Pitch New Hotel at West Palm Beach Old City Hall Site
West Palm Beach pulled out of negotiations with a hotelier who wanted to bring a boutique hotel to city-owned waterview property. Five other parties have now stepped in. Community Redevelopment Agency director Kim Briesemeister said the latest plans are all for hotels.
"We've had five individual firms in the last four months talk to us about this site," Briesemeister said. "Some appear to be quite viable."
The commission's change of plans came after the Palm Beach Post reported last month that the deal, for the abandoned city hall site was being touted by Richard F. Rendina. Rendina was convicted in 2009 for bilking homebuyers out of $500,000 in deposits in a new community in Vero Beach and was disbarred in 1991. Click here for the full story.
