InterContinental Takes Chance With New Manhattan Hotel
Boutique and high-style hotels have sprung up in New York in recent years, their lounges studded with celebrities and their restaurant menus developed by famous chefs. But big hotels that cater to tourists and business travelers have come along only rarely. The 607-room InterContinental, scheduled to open in July in the heart of the theater district, will be the largest hotel built from the ground up since the nearby Westin, with 863 rooms, was completed by the same developer in 2002.
