Suit Alleges Security Chief Was Aqua’s ‘Inside Man’
A subsidiary of Marriott International has filed a federal lawsuit against Aqua Hotels and Resorts Inc. alleging the Honolulu-based hotel operator secretly met with the owner of the former Waikiki Edition hotel to plan a hostile takeover of the hotel’s management. The lawsuit, filed by Marriott Hotel Services on Monday in U.S. District Court in Honolulu, accuses Aqua executives of taking advantage of a dispute between Marriott and hotel owner M Waikiki LLC over the management of the hotel, which opened in October 2010.
